Paradise Regained: Royal Court Theatre

By admin // //

Last week Tom appeared for a very short run, in Mark Ravenhill's 20 minute epilogue to his Shoot / Get Treasure / Repeat series of plays, at the Royal Court. Members of the forum who saw it reported that it was amazing.

I found two blog reviews. The first from Rogues and Vagabonds and the second from Hal For King. The second reflects more accurately the general opinion from the forum.

hmm - well, I never got the impression that the second guy was his son and I don't think that was Mark's intention. From the moment he came through the door he seemed to be an upstart an airhead and a parasite using Zubin's need for a pretty companion to serve his own needs.
It would have to have been an adopted son at the very least - apart from Zubin's character being gay (which doesn't preclude natural birth, I know), Patrick was the physical polar opposite.

I agree - he never seemed to me to be his son.

I really loved this play. I'd been to see No Man's Land earlier in the day with Michael Gambon and David Bradley but Paradise Regained was much more involving. The acting was superb from all 3 of the performers. I thought it was a perfectly conceived short play.
